Changes on LearningFelt website

I am excited to announce that you can now purchase directly on my main website using the PayPay shopping cart.  You can still make purchases on the company site, using my name.  I have had several people ask me if I could make things a little more convenient for purchasing the items on my site.  I listened and responded.

I also want everyone to know that for orders on my site of $100 or more, you get free shipping.

The Little EngineThat Could

I can remember how much I enjoyed this story as a child.  I have purchased the felt set for my daughter as a Christmas present.  I am really looking forward to her reaction Christmas morning.  This is a small, mounted board set with fugures and includes stories.

Have you had a chance to look through our felt sets?  Have you found one that reminds you of your favorite childhood story?  Let me know.  Better yet, get one for your child and relive those memories.

Cookies

I do a lot of baking in the month of December.  This past weekend, I made Russian Tea cookies or you might know them as Mexican Wedding Cookies.  My daughter helped me.  We had a lot of fun.  I explained everything to her.  How to measure the ingredients.  What amount each measuring cup measures.  Together, we measured out the ingredients and mixed up the batter.

Then came the fun part.  Making small, round balls.  It took her a couple, but she got the hang of it fast.  We placed them on the cookie sheet, and baked them.  I did the powdered sugar.  By the time the cookies were baked, she was ready to go on to doing something else.  Typical for a 5yr old.  I was really proud of what she did do.  Of course, she kept coming back to me to get a cookie to eat.

One thing I noticed, was how proud she was of her accomplishment.  She did an amazing job helping me with the cookies.  So I ask you, who needs an Easy Bake Oven, when you have the real thing?  Her grandmother, my MIL, wanted to(and did buy) give her one for Christmas.  I told her No.  My daughter is not old enough to have one.  I believe that there is a reason that manufacturers put suggested ages on their products.  She would want to operate it by herself, and it would not be safe for her to do so at this time.

Not to worry, my MIL is putting the Easy Bake Oven away until my little girl is old enough.  I know she was dissappointed to be told that she could not give this to Lizzie, but I have to be practical.  Some gifts are just not appropriate based on age.

Bible Stories

Are you looking for a fun and creative way to introduce your child to the stories in the bible?  Try using felt figures as a visual aide during the reading of your favorite bible story.  Story Time Felts has felt figures to tell multiple stories.  Just a few are "The Birth of Jesus", "Jonah and the Whale", and "Noah's Ark."  You can make your own felt board to go with is, or buy one of the mounted background boards designed specifically for the Scripture Stories felt.

I start off by reading the story to my children and putting the figures onto the board.  After I have done that once, I read it again and let them put the figures on.  After doing that a few times, I let them retell the story.  It always amazes me how much they actually retain and can re-tell.

Thanks for visiting!  I would love to know what you think of felt boards and other felt activities.  Do you have a favorite felt set?  If so, what?
